Rep. Paul Harris, is inviting citizens of the 17th District to come and be heard. Harris, R-Vancouver, will be hosting an interactive “open mic” event on Monday, Jan. 6 in Vancouver.

Harris will be joining other state lawmakers in Olympia when the 2020 legislative begins Jan. 13. As he prepares, Harris wants to know what’s on the minds of constituents.

“This is a crucial session with several critical issues on the agenda that will impact all of us,” said Harris. “The ongoing transportation and traffic problems in Southwest Washington, the fate of the car-tab initiative (I-976), and the I-5 Bridge replacement are very important.”

“However, I know there are many other significant issues, including health care, homelessness, and taxes. I want to know what issues truly matter to our local citizens,” added Harris.

“This Open Mic Night is a great opportunity for constituents to share what’s on their minds. We can’t solve every problem in a day. But we can come together, listen to each other with open minds, and work together to improve Vancouver,” he said.

The 17th District Open Mic Night will be held from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 6 at the Firstenburg Community Center (resource classroom), 700 NE 136th Avenue, Vancouver, WA 98684.

Many people feel like politicians don’t care what they think or how they feel,” noted Harris. “This is your chance to come and talk about the issues and have a voice in the process.
