Rep. Paul Harris appointed to House Appropriations Committee

Rep. Paul Harris, R-Vancouver, has been appointed to the House Appropriations Committee by House Speaker Frank Chopp.

“Serving on a fiscal committee comes with making tough decisions on funding for important issues in Washington state. We need to fully fund education to address the McCleary decision, provide funding for critical mental health issues and consider funding for other budgetary issues,” said Harris. “I am willing to take that on and make decisions I feel are best for the Seventeenth District and the citizens of our state.”

The House Appropriations Committee considers the operating budget bill and related legislation, budget processes, and fiscal issues such as pension policy and compensation. The committee also considers bills with operating budget fiscal impacts.
