From April 14 – 19, River Homelink home-school student, Sam Weston served as a page in the Washington State House of Representatives. He was sponsored by his 17th District Rep. Paul Harris.

Sam likes to snowboard and read. He is the son of Ryan and Lori Weston.

As a page, Sam was responsible for delivering messages and documents to state lawmakers in their offices, committee meetings and the House chamber. He also attended Legislative Page School during the day, where he learned more about the legislative process.

“Pages are an important part of the daily operations during the legislative session,” said Harris, R-Vancouver. “It was great to have Sam helping out in Olympia for a week. I hope he enjoyed his time with us and stays interested in politics and state government.”

Each year, students from around the state apply to participate in the House Page Program. To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school.
